Figure Director

Turn a topic into a stick-figure video plan: a script, a director proposal with scenes and narration, then standalone prompts for each segment plus stitching, transition and subtitle notes. Clip generation runs on an external video platform.

  • Included with SkillGild Pro
  • Runs locally in your agent
  • v1.0.0
  • SkillGild
skillgild install figure-director
Works with
  • Claude Code
  • Codex
  • Cursor
  • Gemini CLI
  • Antigravity
and any MCP client

Based on stickman-video-director by Stickman Video Director contributors (MIT)

What you get

  • A director's plan for a stick-figure video: a script, scene-by-scene breakdown and narration lines.
  • One standalone prompt per segment, each carrying the style, aspect ratio and character description so the clips match.
  • Stitching, transition and subtitle notes for assembling the clips in any editor.
  • A style catalogue to pick a visual register, from minimal hand-drawn to cozy storytelling.
  • Voice continuity guidance so narration holds together across segments generated separately.

Is it a good fit?

Good for

  • Explaining a topic as a short narrated video without animating anything by hand.
  • Anyone who already has access to a text-to-video platform and needs a plan worth feeding it.
  • Social or educational clips where stick figures carry the idea better than polish would.
  • Planning a video in one pass so the segments match instead of drifting apart.

Not for

  • Producing finished video. This plans and prompts; the clips are generated elsewhere.
  • Code-rendered animation with deterministic output, which wants a motion or character skill instead.
  • Photoreal or live-action footage.
  • Anyone without access to a text-to-video platform, since the prompts would have nowhere to go.

Requirements

  • Access to a text-to-video platform to generate the clips, billed by that platform, not by SkillGild.
  • A video editor for assembly and subtitles.
  • No API key for the skill itself: it writes the plan and the prompts, and makes no external call.

Install the Figure Director skill

Choose your agent and run one command. SkillGild signs you in when needed and connects the skill for you.

Install the SkillGild CLI first. If you already have it, run skillgild update once.

  1. Install this skill for Claude Code.

    Terminal
    skillgild install figure-director --agent claude-code

On first use, approve the sign-in request in your browser. SkillGild connects Claude Code automatically. Restart or reload your agent, then ask it to use this skill.

How it runs

  1. Your agent starts a session. SkillGild checks your access and allowance, counts one run, and sends the skill's instructions for this task.
  2. Your agent does the work with its own model and tools, in your project. SkillGild makes no AI model call.

Use it from code

Start a session, follow its guide, then end it. Create an API key under Account and pass it as a bearer token.

Terminal
# Prints the session ID, its tools and the instructions for your agent
skillgild session figure-director
skillgild end <session-id>

Questions

How do I install the Figure Director skill in Claude Code?

Install the SkillGild CLI, sign in with skillgild login and register its MCP server with Claude Code, then run skillgild install figure-director --agent claude-code. Use --agent codex, cursor or gemini-cli for other clients. It installs as a skill, so there is no separate Claude Code plugin to add.

Does this produce a finished video?

No, and that is worth knowing before you start. It produces a director's plan and one prompt per segment. You generate the clips on an external text-to-video platform and assemble them in an editor. The skill never calls that platform.

What does it cost to actually make the video?

Whatever your video platform charges for the clips, plus your own agent's model usage. The skill itself needs no API key and makes no external call, so nothing is billed through it.

Why is each segment prompt repeated in full?

Because the platform sees one prompt at a time with no memory of the others. Style, aspect ratio and character description are carried into every prompt, which is what stops the clips drifting apart.

Can I use my own visual style?

Yes. Name a style and it is carried through the plan and every segment prompt. The bundled catalogue is a starting set, not a limit.
