Terms of Service
The rules for using SkillGild: accounts, hosted skill execution, creator publishing and what each side is responsible for.
At a glance
- You need an account to run hosted skills, and you are responsible for your keys and devices.
- Skills run on our infrastructure; protected configuration is never installed on your machine.
- Do not try to extract a skill you do not own, or to work around quotas and entitlements.
- Checkout and creator payouts are not live yet, so no fees are charged today.
This summary is for orientation only. The numbered sections below are the terms that apply.
This agreement
These terms are a contract between you and SkillGild covering your use of the SkillGild website, API, command-line interface, client libraries and hosted skill runtime. By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you are accepting on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorised to bind that organization.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of this agreement.
Owner input required: insert the contracting legal entity, company number and registered address before publication.
Accounts and eligibility
You need an account to run hosted skills. You must be at least 16 years old and provide accurate registration details. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
- Keep your password, API keys and connected devices confidential.
- Do not share one account between people; create organization members instead.
- Tell us promptly at support@skillgild.dev if you suspect unauthorised access.
API keys and device grants act on your behalf. You can revoke either at any time from your account page, and we may revoke a credential if we believe it has been compromised.
How the service works
SkillGild publishes a catalog of hosted skills. You install a lightweight wrapper into your coding agent, and the skill itself runs on SkillGild infrastructure. The wrapper contains public metadata only; protected skill configuration stays on our servers and is not installed on your machine.
Before a run starts, the runtime checks your account, your entitlement for the skill and your remaining quota. Runs are subject to a timeout, concurrency limits and a provider circuit breaker. When a run fails because of a provider or platform fault, the reserved free-run quota is released.
Hosted execution reduces direct copying of a skill, but it cannot make a skill secret. The configured model still receives the instructions it needs in order to run, so repeated queries and their outputs can reveal behaviour. Nothing in this agreement is a promise that a skill’s implementation cannot be approximated.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to extract, reconstruct or redistribute the protected configuration of a skill you do not own, including through systematic probing of a skill’s behaviour.
- Circumvent quotas, entitlements, rate limits or any other access control.
- Probe, scan or disrupt the integrity or performance of the platform.
- Use the service to break the law, infringe someone’s rights, or generate unlawful or abusive material.
- Submit malware, or data you have no right to submit.
- Resell or sublicense access to SkillGild without our written agreement.
- Use automated means to scrape the catalog beyond what our published interfaces allow.
We monitor for extraction patterns using one-way fingerprints of input behaviour, as described in our Privacy Policy. Breaking these rules can result in rate limiting, suspension or termination.
Free runs, paid access and fees
Each free skill includes a monthly allowance of runs, shown on the skill’s page and reset monthly. Paid skills require an active entitlement on your account or organization.
Self-service checkout, billing and automated payouts are not yet available on SkillGild. Paid access is currently granted by SkillGild administrators and recorded in an audit log. Where no payment has been taken, no fee is owed and no refund arises.
Owner input required: when checkout launches, this section needs the payment processor, billing cycle, tax handling, refund and cancellation terms. Those cannot be stated until that flow exists.
Creators and published skills
You can apply from your account page to become a SkillGild creator. Applications are reviewed, and we may accept or decline one at our discretion. Submitted skills and new versions go through review before they are published to the catalog.
You keep ownership of the skills you create. By submitting a skill you grant SkillGild a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, execute, display, describe and distribute it through the platform for as long as it is published, so that we can operate the marketplace and serve your users.
You are responsible for having the rights to everything in your skill, for the accuracy of its description and metadata, and for not including third-party credentials or personal data in its configuration.
Self-service publishing and creator payouts are still on the roadmap. Until they ship, publishing is handled with our team and no payout obligation arises.
Your content
You keep ownership of the inputs you send and the content you submit, including support messages, reports and profile information. You grant us the licence we need to store, process and transmit that content in order to provide the service, including sending skill inputs to the configured model provider.
Outputs returned by a hosted skill are yours to use, subject to these terms, the skill’s own terms and the terms of the underlying model provider. We make no claim that an output is unique, accurate or fit for a particular purpose, and you are responsible for reviewing an output before you rely on it.
Reports, moderation and appeals
You can report a skill from its page. We review reports and may unpublish, restrict or remove a skill, or suspend an account, where we reasonably believe these terms or the law have been broken. If your content or account is actioned, you can appeal through your account page and we will review the decision.
Our intellectual property
The SkillGild name, logo, website, software and documentation belong to us or our licensors. These terms do not transfer any of those rights to you beyond the limited, revocable, non-exclusive right to use the service as it is intended. Our client libraries and CLI are licensed under the terms published with them.
Availability and changes
SkillGild is under active development. Features described in the catalog, documentation or on the website may change, and parts of the platform may be unavailable during maintenance or because an upstream provider fails. We do not currently offer a service level agreement.
We may add, change or remove features, and we may unpublish a skill. Where a change materially reduces what you can do with the service, we will give reasonable notice through the product or by email.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error free, or that skill outputs will be accurate or suitable for your use case. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill or data, arising out of or in connection with this agreement.
Owner input required: the aggregate liability cap needs to be set with legal advice, and must take account of the fact that many accounts currently pay nothing.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using SkillGild and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if your use puts the platform or other users at risk. On termination, your right to use the service ends and active credentials are revoked. Sections that by their nature should survive — including intellectual property, disclaimers and limitation of liability — continue to apply.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the current version. For material changes we will give notice through the product or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use SkillGild after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law and disputes
Owner input required: the governing law, the courts with jurisdiction, and any dispute resolution or arbitration process depend on where the SkillGild entity is incorporated. They must be set with legal advice rather than assumed, so this section is intentionally left blank.
